Our class has been working on explanatory papers for our last unit. One student in the class commented that she was happy to write another non-fiction text because she felt it was her "weak spot". How is that for an incredible self reflection?
We are so proud of the writing we have done this year. We write more, know how to write interesting topic sentences, use nonfiction text feature (photos, bold word, text boxes, etc), and know when to use linking works when presenting our big ideas. The big take away from all this writing is that we have learned to try out our new ideas and know that it's okay if we make some mistakes along the way. Remember: "Birds (and people) don't fly, they just fall down and get back up...Nobody learns without getting it wrong!" (Do you recognize that quote? If not, you will soon!)
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” ~Dr. Seuss
